About Us

2012 Backyard Portraitx 5-14--16.jpg

(Picture taken in our back yard with Mt. Wrightson at 9500' - we live at 3000'). We have known each other virtually all our lives - born in the same hospital (Barbara a year after Lauren), attended the same hometown schools and church, etc. Although we were friends in this small town 40 miles west of Chicago we did not date until our latter college years. We married on February 2, 1963 and, after a series of short time moves we lived in Appleton, WI for 3 years, Madison, WI for 4 years and Minneapolis area for 25 years. Retirement in 1995 (got out early - never regretted it!) first brought us to Estes Park, CO where we built a wonderful home on an acre overlooking Lake Estes to the Continental Divide in Rocky Mountain National Park. The nearly 8000 foot altitude did not agree with us - although we did a lot of hiking up to 14,000 feet. Having been in "Cold" all our lives, in March 2003 we moved to "Warm" here in Sahuarita, AZ which is 20 miles south of Tucson and 38 miles from the Mexican border. We live in a retirement community called Quail Creek and love it here. We have a 34 foot 5th wheel trailer / one ton diesel truck and love to travel in it in the western United States and Canada. While at home we volunteer at The Animal League of Green Valley - a no kill rescue facility for dogs and cats and other things as well.

(Picture taken by Barbara in Palm Desert 2015). I was born and raised in Geneva, IL. My parents were both Swedish immigrants coming thru Ellis Island. I was the third of four sons. Dad owned a Buick / Pontiac / GMC truck dealership in Geneva for nearly 40 years, starting in 1922. I got engineering degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology. My career was in technical sales / marketing with Westinghouse Electric Corporation - 32 years worth. In 1980 I became an avid runner and was nationally competitive at many distances up to 50 miles(18 marathons including Stockholm). I have been active in many civic, church and running activities. Due to a hiking fall & shoulder re-construction in 2008 golfing had to stop so now I am enjoying my photography work as a hobby. Barbara introduced me to lap swimming and it is so good. And I love our RV travel.

(Picture taken on Mt. Whitney trail 2014). I was born and raised in Geneva, IL. My father was Swedish descent (my maiden name was Anderson) and my mother was German. My father was a pharmacist and owned a drug store in Geneva. I was an only child. Family was always my number one priority; ahead of work / career. My passion has always been swimming - starting at the age of 5. And I still swim a mile nearly every day. I LOVE to read! I have also been active in many things over the years. Now the travel, swimming and reading are my enjoyment.

Our daughter has lived in London, England for many years. Our son, his wife and two children live in Minnesota.
